5 Key Reasons to Upgrade to an Electric Furnace

Are you thinking about upgrading your furnace? It’s no secret that furnaces provide greater heating power than heat pumps. Heat pumps only transfer heat, whereas furnaces create heat.

If you currently have a gas furnace, here are 5 good reasons to upgrade to an electric furnace.

#1) No Flue Gases

You don’t have to worry about flue gases escaping and entering your home’s living spaces with an electric furnace. Flue gases are the byproduct of combustion. Since electric furnaces don’t burn gas or other materials, they don’t experience combustion. As a result, they don’t produce flue gases.

#2) Less Maintenance

Electric furnaces are easier to maintain than gas furnaces. You won’t have to get the gas line inspected, nor will have you to worry about the pilot light failing. You should still change the air filter, but electric furnaces are easy to maintain.

#3) Lower Cost

While the cost of a furnace can vary, electric furnaces typically cost less than gas furnaces. They contain fewer parts and a simpler design. The end result is a lower cost of production, which manufacturers pass down to homeowners and business owners in the form of a lower price.

Furthermore, electric furnaces cost less to install because they run entirely on electricity. If you buy another gas furnace, the provider will have to connect it to your home’s gas line. It takes longer to install gas furnaces than electric furnaces, so providers charge more for this service.

#4) Consolidate Utility Bills

You can consolidate your utility bills by upgrading to an electric furnace. You won’t have to pay for natural gas to run an electric furnace. Instead, you’ll pay for electricity – the same electricity that’s used to run countless other devices and appliances in your home.

#5) Lasts Longer

By choosing an electric furnace, you can rest assured knowing that it will supply your home with heated air for a long time. Most electric furnaces last longer than gas furnaces.

Gas furnaces have an average lifespan of about 10 to 20 years, whereas electric furnaces have an average lifespan of up to 30 years. If well maintained, an electric furnace may last for an even longer length of time.
